Q&A

Q: What should I pay most attention to when using the camera?

A: For digital mirrorless cameras, carefully remove invisible microscopic dust on the surface of the CMOS image sensor using a rubber air blower or similar tool.

Minute debris that is not noticeable when shooting with a normal lens will become visible when using this product.

At this time, please be very careful not to scratch the image pickup body.

Q: What is the use of a mirrorless digital camera?

Q: Is the product compatible with any mirrorless digital camera model?

A: Basically, yes. The back focus is 29.2 mm, the flange back is 27.8 mm, and the image circle conforms to the G mount made by Fujifilm, the largest in the industry.

Therefore, it can be used with almost all cameras with CMOS size of 1 inch, Micro Four Thirds, APS-C, and full size. (The angle of view is different for each of them.)

However, since this product uses the Leica M-mount, a mount adapter (sold separately) from another manufacturer is required for use with cameras that do not use the M-mount.

Q:There seems to be no warranty card? (repair, etc.)

A:This product is ordered directly from the customer via the Internet by our company, so user registration by the customer is not required. When repairing the product, please send the repaired product to our company. After repair, the product will be sent back to the customer.

The standard turnaround time is 2 weeks. Repairs within 1 year of purchase will be free of charge (shipping charges will be billed separately on delivery), and repairs after 1 year will be charged (3000 yen plus shipping charges).

We will issue an invoice by e-mail, so please make payment by the appropriate method. Repairs will begin upon confirmation of payment.

In any of the above cases, the customer is responsible for shipping costs to our company. Please do not disassemble the product by yourself.

Q: What is the weather resistance of the product?

Q:How about weather resistance?

A: The product can be used in temperatures from 0°C to 40°C. Please refrain from using the product beyond this range.

Also, the product is not designed to be waterproof, so please avoid using it underwater or in the rain.

Q: Can this product be used with a film camera?

Q: Can I use this product with a film camera?

A: This product can be attached to Leica M-mount cameras without modification. We have confirmed that this product can be used with Leica M2, M3, M4-P, CL, Minolta CLE, and Konica RF.

If the camera viewfinder has a 28mm frame, the 28mm frame will be displayed when this product is attached.

This product cannot be used with screw mount rangefinder cameras.

However, it can be used with film SLR cameras with an M-mount adapter. However, the angle of view will be narrower due to the longer flange back of the camera.

Q: Why is the dial to rotate the turret designed to make one turn and then move on to the next?

A: This is to ensure that each optical element on the turret is properly fixed on the optical axis when in use and cannot be easily moved. A special mechanism for watches, called a Zeneva mechanism, is used.

Q: What is a pinhole lens?

Q: What are the features of images taken with a pinhole?

A: Pinhole photography, which uses the directness of light, has no concept of focus. In other words, there is no image formation. This is different from lenses that use refraction or zone plates that use diffraction. Therefore, focusing is not necessary.

The features of the resulting image are

Rather than capturing the details of a subject, it is better suited to expressing the atmosphere of a place or the feeling of air that comes from the entire image. It is a photograph like an impressionist painting, if I may say so.

The blur effect is even at long and short distances.

A large halo (flare) effect can be expected when the sun is placed around the perimeter of the picture.

The bokeh effect does not require image processing to prevent portrait rights infringement unless the face is photographed close-up.

Q: What is a zone plate?

Q: Zone plates. What are the features of images taken with photon sieves?

A: Unlike pinhole photography, zone plate photography, which uses diffraction, has the concept of focus and image formation.

However, in ordinary photography, chromatic aberration occurs at each wavelength across the entire visible light range, and the resulting image is a collection of such aberrations, resulting in a soft image.

However, if you observe the image in detail, you will see that it is taken at a higher resolution than a pin pole.

Q: What is chromatic aberration in zone plate images?

Q:Is there any way to reduce the effects of chromatic aberration in zone plate images?

A: The “Smart Sharpen” filter and “Haze Removal” filter in Adobe’s Photoshop image processing software seem to have a certain effect.

    A: Yes, it does.

Q: There seems to be no helicoid.

A: Theoretically, a pinhole does not form an image, so focusing is not necessary.

Theoretically, an optical element that uses diffraction such as a zone plate should be focused, but according to the opinions of authorities, this is not necessary in practical use.

However, in the opinion of the authorities, it is not necessary for practical use in this product.

Q: Why do you insist on Japanese products?

A: First, because we wanted to bring back to Japan the jobs that had been transferred overseas to Japanese engineers and manufacturing companies. Thirty years ago, when industrial hollowing out began, labor costs in neighboring countries were 1/20th of what they were in Japan, and now they are almost 1/2 of what they are in Japan.

Considering the cost and time required for conversations through interpreters, local business trips, and trade, I believe that domestic production is superior in terms of convenience of communication, economy, delivery time, and sense of security.

Q: What is the material of the main body?

A: It is ABS resin.

    A: ABS resin.

Q: How do I use the attached transparent bag with zipper?

A:To avoid scratches and debris, please use this bag when not in use. The cloth bag included with the product can also be used, but the transparent bag is more effective because the contents can be checked from the outside of the bag.

Q: What is the best way to use the bags?

Q: Is the guidebook supervised by Dr. Takeda the same as the book sold on Amazon?

A: This guidebook is an abstract of a book written by Dr. Takeda and sold on Amazon.com. Dr. Takeda provided a great deal of cooperation in the development of this product. He also kindly agreed to include the abstract in the package.

We are very grateful to him for his kind cooperation in the development of this product.

Q: Why is the package flat?

A: We use Yamato Transport’s “Neko-Pos” service for delivery to our customers to reduce costs. Unlike TA-Q-BIN, etc., the package is delivered to the customer’s mailbox. The rear cap is set in the box by itself in order to keep it within the thickness limit.

Q: How do I use the supplied card?

A: First, we recommend that you carry this card with you when shooting.

The uses are
1. To know the converted f-number of each optical element.
2,When you change optical elements by turning the turret, if you take a picture of the corresponding element description on this card, you can easily find out which element you shot with later.
